Neil Macleod

Trustee at Scouts Scotland

Neil joined Gullane Cub pack about 50 years ago. He subsequently moved up to Scouts and ultimately Venture Scouts for a short time. It was during that time that he developed a love for the outdoors, nature and relishing the opportunities to travel and meet people from outside East Lothian. He managed to achieve his Chief Scout award and also was lucky enough to represent East Lothian at the 1978 World Jamboree. Due to political unrest in Iran, their group ended up in the U.S. hiking part of the Santa Fe trail.

These experiences whet his appetite for travel and meeting new people and he has been lucky enough to have lived and worked in South East Asia, Australia and Europe.

He is a qualified accountant of over 35 years experience in Senior Roles in both small and large companies, the last 15 years of which have been focused on strategy and organisational development. Having now returned to Scotland, he wants to help support the Scout movement in anyway that can and help other young people have the opportunities and experiences that he had .
