Dr. Darren McDonnell has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Dr. Darren started their career in 2007 as a Maintenance Technician at Teva Pharmaceuticals and later moved on to roles such as Reliability Engineer / Materials Specialist at Ophardt Maritim, Daimler, and Pfizer. In these positions, they were responsible for ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of different types of manufacturing systems and developing novel reliability solutions and failure prediction strategies.
In 2016, Dr. McDonnell became a Lecturer at Technological University Dublin, where they taught relevant subjects to students. Dr. Darren then served as an Adjunct Professor at Trinity College Dublin, where they were a senior member of The Science and Technology in Advanced Manufacturing Research Group (STAM). Dr. Darren was responsible for content creation and delivery of the Advanced Manufacturing and Materials modules at MSc level in Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, they co-supervised MSc and PhD students.
In 2017, Dr. McDonnell joined DePuy Synthes as a Materials Specialist, focusing on materials-related tasks and responsibilities.
Lastly, in 2018, they became the Director of Engineering and Co-Founder at SCRI-IS Technologies. In these roles, they presumably oversee the engineering department and contributes to the overall development and operations of the company.

Dr. Darren McDonnell began their education in 2005 at Technological University Dublin, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEng.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering in 2008. Dr. Darren then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Manufacturing and Design Engineering at Technological University Dublin from 2008 to 2010. Following this, Dr. McDonnell attended Trinity College Dublin from 2011 to 2013, where they obtained a Master of Science by Research (MScR) in Mechanical Engineering/Material Science. Finally, from 2013 to 2017, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering/Material Science at Trinity College Dublin.
