Binti Harvey

Binti Harvey is currently the VP of External Relations & Institutional Advancement at Scripps College. Prior to their current position, they served as the Director of Communications and Director of External Affairs for the Los Angeles Unified School District, the nation's 2nd largest school district. In their role, they were responsible for developing and executing marketing, communications, and media relations strategies. Additionally, they advised the Superintendent, Board of Education, and senior management and staff on strategic media and policy decisions. Harvey also planned and directed external affairs activities and media relations for the district's $20 billion school construction program.

Before their work with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Harvey was a Policy Analyst for the League of California Cities where they collaborated with elected city officials on policy development and legislative advocacy activities to benefit municipalities. Binti also developed regional informational programs and executed grassroots campaigns to support specific legislative, regulatory, or ballot measure programs. Additionally, they planned and managed professional development activities including conferences, networking events, and meetings for city officials.

Harvey has also served as the Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Director of Institute Marketing for the California Institute of Technology. In their role, they were responsible for managing all aspects of the Institute's marketing communications efforts. This included developing and implementing marketing plans, overseeing advertising and public relations campaigns, coordinating media relations efforts, and managing the Institute's website and social media presence.

Binti Harvey has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Master of Science in Public Policy from the University of Southern California. Additionally, Binti Harvey is certified in Facilitative Leadership T4T from Interaction Associates and Leadership Pasadena.

Binti Harvey works with Denise Nelson Nash - VP & Secretary, Gretchen Edwalds-Gilbert - Acting VP, Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty, and Victoria Romero - VP, Enrollment. Their manager is Amy Marcus-Newhall, President.
