Paul Ballew has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years in various roles in the software engineering field. Paul started their career at Artisoft as a Test Engineer in 1995 before moving on to Project Technology and Micron Technology in similar roles.
In 2000, Paul joined Trimble Navigation as a Software Engineer, where they worked until 2003. Paul then moved to Inter-Tel Inc as a Software Engineer and later transitioned to Trimble Navigation again in 2005, this time taking up the position of Lead Software Engineer. During their time at Trimble Navigation, Paul played a key role in designing and implementing the Trimble Construction Manager telematics application, which led to the formation of the Virtual Site Solutions joint venture with Caterpillar.
In 2015, Paul ventured into self-employment and started a business called Front Range Properties and Real Estate, where they focused on remodeling houses. However, they decided to return to their passion for software engineering due to the challenges and uncertainties involved.
Paul then worked at ViaWest as a Software Engineer from 2017 to 2017, where they contributed to the migration of a system to microservices and reactive architecture using various technologies such as Javascript, ASP. NET MVC 4, REST services, Kafka, dotnet core, Entity Framework, and SQL Server.
Currently, Paul is employed at Scrum Alliance as a Senior Software Engineer, where they are responsible for architecting and implementing web sites using technologies like .NET, .NET Core, C#, Javascript, JQuery, SQL Sever, Entity Framework, and Linq, with a focus on microservices architecture.
Paul Ballew attended the University of Arizona from 1988 to 1995, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a emphasis in Computer Engineering. Paul also holds additional certifications including Advanced Certified Scrum Developer, Certified Scrum Developer (CSD), and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from the Scrum Alliance. The Advanced Certified Scrum Developer certification was obtained in April 2021, while the Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certifications were obtained in September 2019 and November 2018, respectively.
