Mahima Jaini

Lead Scientist, Marine Biology at Sea6 Energy

Mahima Jaini has worked in the field of marine biology for over 10 years. In 2012, they began their career as a Program Officer and Research Assistant at Dakshin Foundation. During their four years in the Biodiversity and Resource Monitoring Program, they developed projects under both the 'Sustainable Fisheries' and 'Marine Flagships' subheads. In 2017, they were appointed as a Marine Research Officer at ANET (Andaman Nicobar Environment Team), where they were in-charge of developing marine research programmes, and infrastructure, planning logistics and designing college-level field-based marine biology and ecology courses at ANET. In 2011, they worked as a Marine Science Educator at Ocean Classroom Foundation, where they planned and executed semester-long college and high-school level marine science courses aboard the tall-ships. In 2020, they took on two roles: Science Writer and Researcher. As a Science Writer, they worked on popular articles and outreach material on somewhat off-beat topics like parenting and reproduction in the marine world, and seemingly gross things like mucus. As a Researcher, they are currently working on some primary research manuscripts pertaining to zooplankton surveys they conducted in the Andaman Islands from 2018-2019. Mahima Jaini is currently the Lead Scientist, Marine Biology at Sea6 Energy Pvt Ltd., a position they have held since 2022.

Mahima Jaini completed a Bachelor of Science in Marine Sciences from the University of Maine in 2008. Mahima then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Marine Biology from the same university, which they completed in 2011. In March 2017, they obtained a Dive Master certification from PADI.
