Jan Swartz serves as Group President of Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, and P&O Australia, four of the nine world’s leading cruise lines in the Carnival Corporation & plc global portfolio of brands. Carnival Corp is recognized as the world’s largest leisure travel company.

She is also the chief executive leading the shared professional services division supporting the brands which also includes Holland America Princess Alaska Tours. Swartz continues her role as group president of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia (appointed in 2016), where she provides executive leadership for brands operating under this business unit. In 2013, she was appointed president of Princess Cruises after more than 15 years working with the cruise line.

For Princess Cruises, she leads a global cruise and tour company, comprised of a fleet of 14 modern ships that serve 2 million guests annually.

Swartz leads the executive management and fleet operations team that is activating MEDALLIONCLASS VACATIONS™ – the next generation of cruise vacations offering a more personal, immersive and seamless experience made possible by Carnival Corporation’s OceanMedallion™, a wearable device with a first-of-its-kind interactive technology platform enabling enhanced on-demand services and personalized at scale for all guests.

Swartz was appointed president in November 2013, after more than 15 years at the cruise line. Prior to this, she served as executive vice president overseeing the line’s sales, marketing and customer service operations, a position she held since 2009. In this role, she directed many of the line’s key departments including domestic and international sales, global marketing and public relations, commercial planning, yield management and customer service for both consumers and retail business partners (travel agents). She has been at the forefront of the industry in developing innovative educational programs, like the award-winning Princess Academy and business-building tools for travel agents like OneSourceCruises.com.

Previously, Swartz served as senior vice president of sales and customer service for both Princess and sister brand Cunard, beginning in 2004. In 2001 she was appointed vice president of strategy and business development and worked on the P&O Princess acquisition by Carnival Corporation. She has served on various advisory boards for CRUISE LINES INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION (CLIA), the industry trade association since 2008 including chairperson of the marketing committee.

Her first role with Princess began in 1997, as a management consultant with the prestigious Bain & Company, where for five years she worked with leading consumer and service companies on growth strategies. While at Bain, she led a team to evaluate and enhance Princess Cruises call center programs and distribution systems.

In March 2018, Swartz was appointed to the board of directors for MGM Resorts International, an S&P 500 global entertainment company with national and international locations featuring hotels and casinos, meetings and conference spaces, live and theatrical entertainment experiences, and an extensive array of restaurant, nightlife and retail offerings. MGM Resorts are proud of their company for being recognized as one of FORTUNE Magazine's World's Most Admired Companies.

Swartz holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and English from the University of Virginia. She is a past member of The Committee of 200 (C200), an invitation-only organization of the world’s most successful women business leaders. Supporting the local business community, she has served on the board of directors for the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce.
