Chief Mate / Marine Section Leader at Seadrill

Rodrigo de Vilhena Vidal began their work experience in 2007 as a Deck Cadet and worked on supply vessels and anchor handling. After completing a one-year training period, they became a 3rd Mate on the Anchor Handler Maersk Handler, where they worked for over a year on operations for Petrobras in Campos, Espirito Santo, and Santos Basin. In 2009, they joined Pride International as a DPO Trainee, eventually being promoted to DPO. Rodrigo worked on the Semi-Submersible drilling rig Pride Portland in the Espirito Santo Basin and later on the Pride South America rig for work over operations in the Campos Basin. In 2011, Vidal joined Seadrill as a Senior Dynamic Position Operator/1st Mate on the West Taurus rig, working on drilling and completion work for Petrobras in the Santos Basin. Rodrigo then served as Chief Mate/Marine Section Leader during various assignments, including a warm stack in Rio de Janeiro, navigation to the Canary Islands, and a cold stack period in Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Spain.

Rodrigo de Vilhena Vidal's education history starts in 2004 when they enrolled at the Brazilian Merchant Academy, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Nautical Sciences and Industrial Engineering. Rodrigo completed their studies at this institution in 2006. In 2009, Rodrigo attended Estácio University, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Industrial Engineering, which they completed in 2012. Additionally, between 2004 and 2007, they also attended the Escola de Formação de Oficiais da Marinha Mercante, where they obtained a Bacharel em Ciencias Náuticas degree with a specialization in Nautica.
