John Dykes

Managing Principal Technologist

John Dykes is an experienced technologist and leader in the field of data storage, currently serving as Managing Principal Technologist at Seagate Technology since September 2010, where responsibilities include leading research in areas such as Hard Disk Drives and Solid State Drives. Prior to this role, John Dykes was a Senior Engineering Director at Seagate from February 1999 to April 2010, managing technical teams focused on optimizing recording subsystems. Earlier career experiences include positions at Quantum Corporation, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where John Dykes contributed significant expertise in GMR (giant magnetoresistance) technologies and materials characterization. John Dykes holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Davis, and a B.S. in Physics from Utah State University.
