Seaside Sustainability
Eric Magers has an extensive work history spanning over two decades. Eric has held various roles in different organizations, mainly focused on sustainability, environmental awareness, and education. Eric is the Founder and CEO of the National STEM Honor Society (NSTEM), where they nurture STEM education and innovation for K-12 and college students. Eric is also the Founder and Executive Director of Seaside Sustainability, a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainability and environmental awareness. In addition, they have served as a member of the Gloucester Clean City Commission, TownGreen 2025, Manchester Coastal Stream Team, and Manchester Curbside Compost and Waste Reduction Committee. Eric has also worked as a contract trainer and level 2 facilitator at Project Adventure, Inc. Furthermore, they have made significant contributions to the Manchester Essex Regional Middle/High School and Manchester Essex Regional High School as a program director and coach. Eric has a background in teaching Spanish, physical education, project adventure, and health at the Manchester Essex Regional School District, where they implemented inclusive and comprehensive health and PE curricula. Throughout their career, Eric has been committed to promoting environmental initiatives and encouraging youth development.
Eric Magers attended Gould Academy from 1985 to 1988, where they obtained their High School Diploma. Eric later attended Salem State University from 1999 to 2004, earning a Master's degree in Elementary Education. In 2008, they returned to Salem State University and completed another Master's degree, this time in Physical Education, which they finished in 2012.
In terms of certifications, Eric Magers obtained the Leading Sustainable Innovation Professional Certificate from the University of Vermont Grossman School of Business in May 2017. In August 2015, they received the Project-Based Learning Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. Eric also holds various certifications from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, including Elementary General Curriculum, K-12 Spanish, K-8 & 6-12 Health/Family Consumer Sciences, K-8 & 6-12 Physical Education, and Middle School General Curriculum. Additionally, they obtained the Project Adventure Level II Trainer certification from Project Adventure, Inc. and the Wilderness First Responder (CPR & First Aid) certification from Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO).

Seaside Sustainability is a nationally recognized, award-winning 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to community engagement, education and environmental conservation. Seaside Sustainability’s mission is to protect and restore our oceans by educating people of all ages about the critical issues that threaten our environment; promoting best practices for sustainability; and inspiring meaningful advocacy and hands-on action. Seaside Sustainability works with schools, cities and towns, environmental groups, technology companies, and individuals. Together, we strive to ensure the healthy future of oceans, rivers, wetlands, and estuaries around the world. Seaside Sustainability aims to be a leader in environmental and STEM education programs and recognition initiatives by promoting public awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability, providing resources to develop problem-solving skills, and chances to get engaged as part of a community to take action. Our work provides project-based learning, meaningful internships for students, and volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. Our unique internship program engages hundreds of high school and college students around the world in meaningful hands-on study, giving them training to become the future leaders in the stewardship of our planet.
