Sean Murphy

Sean Murphy currently serves as the Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Seattle Children's and has held this position since June 2020. Additionally, Sean is the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Director/Co-Director. At the University of Washington, Sean has occupied several academic roles since July 2013, including Professor, Director of the Malaria Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, and Assistant Director of Clinical Microbiology, and previously held positions from July 2008 to 2013, including Acting Assistant Professor and Resident Physician. Sean's educational background includes an MD/PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, a Diploma in African Studies from the University of Cape Town, and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Iowa State University.
