Roger Nyhus is a Trustee at the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Roger has over two decades of experience in marketing and communications, having served in various leadership roles at Fred Hutch, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Washington State Office of the Governor.
Roger began their career in marketing and communications at Fred Hutch in September 2012, where they served as Interim Vice President of Marketing and Communications. In this role, they advised division leaders and scientists on communicating about critical research center initiatives, including studying infection-related cancers in Uganda and the Women's Health Initiative, a long-term national health study of women focused on preventing chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease.
In April 2004, Roger joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as Senior Advocacy Officer. In this role, they supported foundation-wide advocacy and the global libraries program. Roger participated in global library visits in South America, including those in Argentina and Chile. Roger left the foundation to rejoin their consulting firm, Nyhus Communications, in September 2004.
From May 2002 to May 2004, Roger served as Communications Director for the Washington State Office of the Governor. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies for the governor and their senior staff.
Roger Nyhus has a BA in Communications from Washington State University and another in Communications from the University of Washington.
