Burt Porter

Senior Financial Economist

Burt Porter is the Principal Financial Economist at the US Securities and Exchange Commission, a role they have held since 2012. Burt has previously served as a Senior Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers during 2016-2017 and as a Senior Financial Economist at the SEC. Prior to these positions, Burt was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Iowa State University from 2005 to 2012 and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Florida from 1997 to 1999. Burt holds a PhD in Finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an MBA in Finance from Emory University. They earned a BS in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.
