David Austin is currently a Senior Counsel in the Market Abuse Unit of the Enforcement Division at the US Securities and Exchange Commission, a position held since 2014. They previously served as a Trial Attorney in the Fraud Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division since 2022. Before these roles, David worked as an attorney at Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello PC from 2005 to 2013 and was a law clerk for the Honorable Louis L. Stanton in the Southern District of New York from 2003 to 2005. David began their legal career as a paralegal at Weil Gotshal and Manges from 1998 to 2000. They hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government and Asian Studies from Bowdoin College and a Doctor of Law degree from NYU School of Law, having also studied at Waseda University in Japan.
