Eileen Smiley

Eileen Smiley is an investment management legal and compliance professional with extensive experience in regulatory matters and corporate governance. They served as Senior Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since 2023, while also holding previous positions at the SEC, including Senior Counsel in the Office of the Chief Counsel, and in the Division of Enforcement. Eileen was the Vice President and Securities Counsel at USAA from 2003 to 2006, where they provided legal support for broker-dealers and mutual funds, and designed training for regulatory compliance. They also contributed as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Hansberger Global Investors from 2010 to 2014, specializing in legal and compliance for international investment advisers. Eileen holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of California at Davis School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Trinity College-Hartford.
