Elizabeth McFadden

Deputy General Counsel for General Law and Management

Elizabeth McFadden is currently the Deputy General Counsel for General Law and Management at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to this role, they served as the Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Education since 2011, where they managed legal staff and provided advice on various regulatory and compliance matters. From 2003 to 2011, Elizabeth was an Assistant General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Education, and before that, an Attorney at Dow Lohnes PLLC from 1991 to 2003, specializing in communications and transactional law. They hold a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Trinity University-Washington.
