Ian Dattner

Ian Dattner is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in commercial litigation and regulatory matters. Currently serving as Assistant General Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since August 2013, Ian has held roles including Senior Special Counsel and Senior Counsel. Prior experience includes serving as an Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where representation encompassed complex litigation in various substantive areas, and as a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Cecilia M. in the Southern District of Florida. Ian's early career includes impactful work with Habitat for Humanity New York City, where contributions involved research on housing issues and grant writing. Ian holds a Doctor of Law from Columbia University, complemented by dual degrees in Finance and History from the University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton School, respectively.
