James Blakemore

James Blakemore currently serves as Senior Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel and previously held the title of Special Counsel in the Office of the Chief Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since November 2020. Prior experience includes roles as Adjunct Professor at the University of Michigan Law School, Partner and Co-Founder at Ketsal and Blakemore Fallon, and Associate Attorney at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. James's legal career began as a Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court and included an associate position at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. James holds a Doctor of Law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and advanced degrees in British and American Literature and dual Bachelor's degrees in English and Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Utah.
