Jason Burt

Jason Burt currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Division of Enforcement (Specialized Units) at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a position held since March 2019. Burt has a significant history within the SEC, previously holding roles such as Director of the Denver Regional Office and Associate Regional Director in the Division of Enforcement. Earlier experience includes serving as Assistant Regional Director in both the Asset Management Unit and Market Abuse Unit from August 2016 to March 2019. Burt also contributed to academia as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law from 2015 to 2018, teaching Investment Adviser Compliance and Enforcement. Prior to these roles, Burt worked at the SEC as Senior Counsel in the Market Abuse Unit from 2004 to 2016 and practiced as an Associate at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson LLP. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from James Madison University.
