Kevin Burris serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since April 2021, previously holding the role of Counselor to the Chair and Director of the same office. Prior to this, Kevin Burris spent nearly five years at the U.S. House of Representatives, first as Director of Oversight and Investigations/Chief Oversight Counsel from 2016 to April 2021 and as Legal Fellow from 2013 to 2014. Between 2014 and 2016, Kevin Burris was Counsel in the United States Senate. Additional experience includes serving as an Attorney with the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York, Associate Attorney at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, Law Institute Summer Coordinator at Legal Outreach, LSAT Instructor at TestMasters, and a Teacher for 4th and 5th Grades with Teach for America. Kevin Burris holds a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Government from the University of Maryland.
