Strategic Engagement Officer

Melvin Thomas is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in diversity and inclusion, talent acquisition, and strategic engagement across multiple federal organizations. Currently serving as the Strategic Engagement Officer at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since March 2021, Melvin leads outreach and partnership initiatives to enhance workforce diversity and improve financial education outreach. Prior to this role, Melvin was the Supervisory Diversity & Recruitment Officer at the Peace Corps, where innovative programs were developed to advance diversity in Volunteer programs. Melvin's background includes significant positions at the U.S. Department of Labor as a Senior HR Specialist, Fannie Mae as a Senior Manager in Diversity & Inclusion, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau managing special programs for diverse groups. Melvin holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources from The Catholic University of America and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Florida.
