Peter Haggerty

Peter Haggerty has extensive experience in regulatory and litigation roles, primarily within the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where tenure began in July 2004, culminating in the position of Senior Regulatory Counsel for the Division of Examinations. Prior positions at the Commission include Special Counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel and Senior Counsel in both the Asset Management Unit and the Division of Enforcement. Before joining the SEC, Peter Haggerty worked as a Senior Associate at McGuireWoods LLP, focusing on commercial and securities litigation, and as a Litigation Associate at Crews & Hancock, PLC. Early career experience includes serving as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Hon. William D. at the 31st Judicial Circuit Court of Virginia and a Summer Law Clerk at the United States Attorney's Office, Western District of Virginia. Peter Haggerty holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School.
