Barbara Wilets has extensive experience in human resources, currently serving as the Director of People Operations and Vice President of Human Resources at Second Harvest of Silicon Valley since October 2016. Prior to this role, Barbara held various positions at Space Systems Loral from May 2012 to October 2016, including Director of HR Programs, Services, and Systems. Barbara's previous experience also includes serving as Director of HR Business Partners and Programs at Affymetrix from 2007 to February 2012, as well as a Senior HR Business Partner at Sun Microsystems from July 2000 to 2007. Barbara began a career in human resources as a Human Resources Manager at Quantum from 1996 to 2000. Barbara holds a BA in Social Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, and has completed additional education at San Jose State University.

Founded in 1974, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is one of the largest food banks in the nation and a trusted nonprofit leader in ending local hunger. The organization distributes nutritious groceries through a network of nearly 400 partners at drive-thru and walk-up sites across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Due to the prohibitively expensive cost of living in Silicon Valley, the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rise in inflation, Second Harvest is now serving an average of about 500,000 people every month. Second Harvest also connects people to federal nutrition programs and other food resources, and advocates for anti-hunger policies on the local, state and national levels.
