Daniel Shaw is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with more than 18 years’ experience in the construction industry. As an Associate Director with Secretariat, he regularly assists the appointed quantum expert in major international arbitration or adjudication.
He specializes in the analysis of quantum claims on construction projects involving aspects such as valuation and measurement, variations, loss and expense, defective works and termination.
Mr. Shaw has worked on a broad range of construction projects, under both standard and bespoke forms of contract, in the United Kingdom, across mainland Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His experience includes numerous major power, industrial, infrastructure and building projects such as power plants, offshore wind farms, highways, rail, oil and gas and residential projects.
He is experienced in Contracts Management and Claims Preparation having provided clients with commercial, contractual and claims advice and support, working with both major contractors and consultancy organizations.
Mr. Shaw holds an MSc in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution, a BSc (Honours) degree in Quantity Surveying, an HND in Civil Engineering and an ONC in Building Construction. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and holds an Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence from Legal Experience Training (LETAPAEWE).
