Michael Kling

Michael Kling is the Managing Director at Secretariat International. Michael has over 20 years of experience in accounting and finance, and has held various positions in both the private and public sectors.

Kling began their career as a Senior Manager at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, where they worked for 12 years. Michael then transitioned to the public sector, serving on the Bond Oversight Committee for the Manhattan Beach City School District for four years. In this role, they were responsible for reviewing plans and costs related to the construction of new school facilities, ensuring compliance with bond measure requirements and informing the public about expenditures.

Kling returned to the private sector in 2012, when they took a position as Director at Tutor Perini Corporation. In this role, they provided assistance and services to the CEO, CFO and Corporate Controller on civil infrastructure and building projects. Michael advised executives and project teams on project costs, controls, profit, budget, and changes and claims issues. Michael also evaluated and assessed project status related to job cost, change orders, claims and litigation issues, and project billings.

Kling has been with Secretariat International since 2013. In their current role as Managing Director, they are responsible for leading the organization’s financial planning and analysis function. Michael also provides guidance on strategic initiatives and supports the CEO in executing the organization’s overall strategy.

Michael Kling received both a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Drexel University. Michael then went on to earn their J.D. from Delaware Law School. Most recently, they were a Leadership L.A. Alumni Fellow with the Southern California Leadership Network, where they focused on leadership and volunteerism.

They work with Lona Fowdur - Managing Director, Andy Ackel - Director, and Nicolas Noyer - Director. Michael Kling reports to Don Harvey, Founder, Managing Director.
