Matthew Chum has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Matthew currently works at Security Compass as a Senior DevOps Engineer since January 2022. Prior to their current position, Matthew held the role of DevOps Engineer at Security Compass from August 2019 to January 2022.

Before joining Security Compass, Matthew worked at Genesys as a Software Developer from June 2017 to August 2019. In this role, they created CloudFormation templates for provisioning various resources, such as autoscaling groups, ECS, load balancer, ElastiCache, and CloudWatch alarms. Matthew also developed a Docker deployment pipeline using Jenkins and Ansible onto an ECS Cluster.

Prior to Genesys, Matthew was a Computer Engineering Student at the University of Waterloo from September 2012 to April 2017. During their time as a student, they gained foundational knowledge and skills in computer engineering.

Matthew also has experience as a Quantitative Developer Intern at AlphaParity, LLC from January 2016 to December 2016. In this role, they replicated and created proof of concept models using economist predictions and natural language processing. Matthew also implemented data visualization methods using D3.js and Python for investor relations reports.

Additionally, Matthew worked as a Software Engineer at Context Relevant in 2015, where they created a C++ implementation of a parquet file reader for the platform API. Matthew wrote tests and created test files for the parquet reader and presented the implementation to the team.

Matthew's earlier experiences include roles at BlackBerry, Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, TDA Inc, and Claude Watson Club 2000, spanning from 2009 to 2014.

Matthew Chum earned their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo between 2012 and 2017.
