Alexis Pollard currently serves as the Fire Debris Technical Leader and Forensic Scientist I at Sedgwick County Government since June 2023. Previously, Alexis was a Graduate Assistant at Sam Houston State University from August 2021 to May 2023, focusing on literature review, analyzing fentanyl analogs, and smokeless powders. Prior experience includes a Seized Drugs Intern at TX DPS Garland Crime Laboratory in summer 2022, where analytical skills were developed through the observation of casework and analysis using ATR-FTIR and Raman techniques. At Western Carolina University, Alexis contributed as a Research Scientist from August 2018 to May 2021, identifying volatile organic compounds in human decomposition odors, and held roles as a Student Laboratory Assistant and Course Tutor. Alexis holds a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from Sam Houston State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science from Western Carolina University.
