Scott Maki has over 35 years of work experience. In 2020, they began working as an Operations Supervisor for Sedron Technologies, where they operate and maintains a Varcor system on a large organic dairy farm. Scott holds safety talks and training, directs and oversees daily operations of crew members performing maintenance tasks and upgrades, and monitors productivity to provide feedback and coaching. From 2017 to 2020, they worked as a Millwright/Machinist for Universal Plant Services, where they performed on-site routine and emergency maintenance repairs on all rotating equipment. Scott also pulled, disassembled, rebuilt, reinstalled, and laser aligned rotating equipment including pumps, large overhead cooling fans, and Oberlin filter presses. From 1989 to 2017, they worked for Furmanite America as a Lead Supervisor/Senior Technician, where they supervised, safety trained, and directed crews of skilled maintenance workers for turnaround rebuilds. Scott also performed skills training for subordinates, on-line leak sealing, portable machining, technical bolting, valve repair and testing, carbon fiber composite repairs, and all duties required of a on-site company representative. From 1986 to 1989, they worked for the US Navy as a Machinery Repairman, where they operated all manual machine shop equipment, ran an electroplating shop, and cut and drilled resharpening shop. Scott also stood various guard duties, was a toolroom attendant, and trained as the #1 nozzle man firefighter. From 1985 to 1986, they worked for The Medical Center Company as an Assistant Stationary Engineer and Boiler Operator, where they monitored and adjusted systems to maintain proper uninterrupted boiler operation of coal and gas fired boilers, and provided steam, water, electricity, and vacuum to the institutions within Cleveland's University Circle. Scott also documented and charted equipment's performance, tested water samples, adjusted chemicals, and performed maintenance repair work.

Scott Maki attended Great Lakes Maritime Academy from 1982 to 1985, where they received an Associate of Applied Science in Maritime Engineering. Scott then obtained a Third Assistant Engineer certification from the United States Coast Guard in July 1985. In 1986, they were awarded a 3rd Class Stationary Steam Engineer certification from the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Industrial Compliance. In 1987, they graduated from US Navy Machinery Repairman "A" School with a focus in Machinist.
