Lina Khatib

Lina Khatib is a distinguished academic and practitioner in Middle Eastern studies with a diverse range of roles and extensive experience. Currently serving as an Advisory Board Member at CMEC and an Associate Fellow at Chatham House, Khatib is also the Director of the SOAS Middle East Institute and holds the MBI Al Jaber Chair in Middle East Studies at SOAS University of London. Khatib's involvement includes positions such as Research Associate at the Imperial War Museums, Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees at Seenaryo, and Co-Founder of the World Metal Congress. With a robust background in research focusing on politics and security in the Middle East, particularly Syria, Khatib has previously held significant roles at Chatham House and the Arab Reform Initiative. Khatib holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences and an MA in Mass Communication from the University of Leicester, along with a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from the American University of Beirut.
