Hongwei Xia has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Hongwei started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Science and Technology of China, where they developed expertise in polymer and colloid nanoparticles synthesis and characterization. During this time, they also collaborated with another research group on bio-inspired nanomaterials.
In 2011, Hongwei joined the University of Connecticut as a Research Assistant, focusing on applying biological concepts to synthetic and hybrid macromolecules to develop new functional nanomaterials. Hongwei collaborated with Prof. Jianjun Cheng at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for some of their research studies.
From 2016 to 2017, Hongwei worked as a Scientist at Volochem, gaining practical experience in the field.
In 2017, Hongwei joined AIM Biosciences as a Scientist, before moving on to Seer in 2018. At Seer, they assumed various roles, starting as an Associate Scientist and gradually progressing to Scientist I, Scientist II, and Scientist III. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Scientist.
Hongwei Xia earned a Bachelor's degree in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Hongwei went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Polymer Chemistry at the University of Connecticut, from 2011 to 2015.
