Theo Platt

Theo Platt's work experience begins in 1995 as a Consultant for American Management Systems/CGI, where they quickly advanced from a QA team member to leading a team of developers. Theo then worked as a Consultant for GTECH, where they contributed to the launch of national and state lottery systems. After that, they joined Jobstream Group as a Senior Consultant, providing consultancy services and training for financial practice software. In 2000, they became a Consultant at Newtel Solutions.

In 2001, Platt became the Chief Technology Officer of Broadscape Ltd, a Wireless ISP. Theo played a key role in introducing the concept of free WiFi service ahead of competitors. The company grew to be stable and profitable.

From 2001 to 2013, Platt worked as a Data Architect at ICE Data Services. Theo designed and built the evaluation platform for over-the-counter financial products and expanded into Exchange Traded Derivatives.

In 2013, they joined Biogen as an Associate Director in R&D Data Science/Engineering. Theo managed multiple Agile engineering teams and projects, delivering innovative technology solutions to Biogen's Research, Development, and Medical functional areas. Theo also drove Agile adoption and introduced new technology for the enterprise.

Since 2018, Platt has been working at Seer, initially as the Senior Director of Data Science. Theo played a crucial role in growing the company from the first full-time employee to a successful IPO. Theo built and retained the data science, data engineering, and bioinformatics teams. Theo later became the Senior Director of Data Engineering & Algorithms and, most recently, the Vice President of Data Engineering and Software. Theo is responsible for designing and building cloud-native proteomics pipelines and software, as well as leading engineering and team-building efforts.

Theo Platt obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering and Computing Science from the University of Oxford, graduating in 1995. In addition, they have several certifications in various fields, including Convolutional Neural Networks, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, Improving Deep Neural Networks, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, and Machine Learning, all obtained through Coursera in 2017. Theo also holds a certification in Introduction to Biology - The Secret of Life obtained through edX in 2013.
