Maria-Ines Carrera has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Maria-Ines started their career as a Software Engineering Intern at Google in 2010 and 2011, where they worked on projects related to web application design and development using Java, Python, HTML, and JavaScript.
In 2012, Maria-Ines joined Google as a full-time Software Engineer. During their time at Google, they worked on various projects, including the development of Android platform APIs for nearby device interactions and offline peer-to-peer sharing between Android devices. Maria-Ines played a key role in launching the Nearby Connections feature in July 2017.
In 2018, Maria-Ines joined Seesaw Learning as a Software Engineer, later transitioning into the role of Tech Lead. Maria-Ines contributed to org-wide improvements to engineering processes, tooling, frameworks, and infrastructure. Maria-Ines also served as the Technical Architect for the Messaging Team, where they led a team in rebuilding a core product and launching a new messaging system that significantly increased engagement from monthly active teachers.
Currently, Maria-Ines is a Staff Software Engineer at Seesaw Learning, where they are involved in kickstarting the new Client Platform team.
Overall, they possess strong technical skills in software engineering, with a focus on backend and frontend development, API design, and system architecture.
Maria-Ines Carrera received their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (Theory) from Stanford University, where they attended from 2008 to 2012. In 2017, they briefly attended Oregon State University, focusing on Mathematics. However, no degree was obtained during their time at Oregon State University.
