Gerard Penning

Gerard Penning is an Administrative Board Member at Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). Gerard was previously with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and Shell. At Shell, they were the Executive Vice President Human Resources Downstream from July 2009 to July 2020.

In their role at SEforALL, Gerard is responsible for helping the company achieve its goal of sustainable energy for all by 2030. This includes working with partners to increase access to modern energy services, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency, and double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.

Gerard has a long and successful history in the energy industry, starting with their time at Shell. During their 11 years with the company, Gerard helped lead the team that made Shell the largest branded fuels retailer in the world. Gerard also played a key role in the company's Chemical business, which is entering a new period of growth.

Before their time at Shell, Gerard worked at ABN AMRO Bank N.V., where they gained valuable experience in the financial sector. This experience has helped him in their current role at SEforALL, where they are responsible for the company's finances and ensuring that it remains financially stable.

Gerard is a skilled and experienced leader who has a proven track record in both the private and public sectors. Gerard is dedicated to helping SEforALL achieve its goal of sustainable energy for all by 2030.

Gerard Penning graduated from Leiden University with a Master in Law in the field of Civil Law. Gerard also attended ATHENEUM A/VWO at Vrije school, den haag.

Gerard Penning reports to Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO & Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General. They work with Sherry Kennedy - Director of Communications, Steve Howard - Administrative Board Member, and Jim Walker - Senior Director, Resource Mobilization.
