Martin Willemink

Martin Willemink is currently the Cofounder & Chief Growth & Scientific Officer at Segmed. Prior to this, they were a Consultant at Arterys, an Instructor at Stanford University School of Medicine, and a Fulbright Scholar at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Martin has also been a Speaker Bureau Lecturer at Philips.

Martin has always been interested in cardiovascular imaging and machine learning. Martin did their undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. After completing their studies, they worked as a research engineer at Philips Healthcare, where they gained valuable experience in the field of medical imaging. Martin then went on to complete their PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Stanford University, with a focus on cardiovascular MRI.

During their time at Stanford, Martin has been involved in various research projects, most notably the development of a new method for quantifying heart function using MRI. Martin has also been involved in clinical research projects evaluating the use of MRI for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. In addition to their research work, Martin has also been responsible for teaching and supervising postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.

Martin’s work has been recognized by various organizations, including the American Heart Association and the European Society of Radiology. Martin has given invited lectures at numerous conferences, both in person and online. In 2019, they were awarded the Fulbright Scholarship, which allowed him to spend six months at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York

Martin Willemink's educational career includes a wide variety of programs and fields. Martin has completed a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Twente, an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from Utrecht University, and a PhD in Medical Imaging from Utrecht University. Martin also has a certification from The Wharton School in Introduction to Marketing and a certification from Stanford University in Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

They work with Michelle Imhoff - Head of Talent, Diandra Connolly - Chief of Staff, and Adam Koszek - Cofounder & CTO. Their manager is Cailin Hardell, Cofounder & CEO.
