Joel Smith

Joel Smith is a seasoned union representative currently serving at SEIU Healthcare since September 2023. With a substantial background in union organization and member mobilization, Joel previously held the title of local union organizer at Unifor Local 222 from January 2008 to September 2023. Additionally, Joel worked as an organizer and executive assistant for the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario from January 2021 to June 2022, focusing on communications and political action. Experience at General Motors included roles as an assembler and committeeperson, contributing to a career in labor relations that began in 1990. Joel also served as a community-based organizer with the Canadian Autoworkers Union from September 2004 to December 2007 and held the position of chairperson at A. Taylor - G. Morgan Unifor Dental Centre until September 2023, where dental services were provided to the public.
