Sonia Garrison

Sonia Garrison is an experienced professional in financial capability and community development, currently serving as the Financial Capability Program Manager at Self-Help Credit Union since January 2019. Garrison has designed and implemented a three-year Financial Capability Initiative aimed at enhancing the financial security of credit union members and staff, resulting in comprehensive program adoption. Previous roles include Financial Capability Consultant, Research Manager, Senior Researcher, and Product Development Manager, with extensive experience in consumer finance, project management, and research across various organizations such as Evolution Finance and the Center for Responsible Lending. Garrison's background also includes community development roles at Norwest Mortgage and the Raleigh/Wake Coalition for the Homeless, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to improving financial literacy and access for low- and moderate-income individuals. Education was obtained at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
