Founded in 2008, and part of the parent organization Self-Help, they are a community development credit union. They serve anyone seeking affordable, responsible financial services, but are particularly committed to serving low-wealth and underserved communities and families. Their mission is to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity for all, especially people of color, women, rural residents, and low-wealth families and communities. Self-Help strengthens underserved communities by providing financing to homebuyers, nonprofits, childcare centers, community health facilities, public charter schools, and residential and commercial real estate projects.
