Yap Chee Keong

Yap Chee Keong is the current Deputy Chairman at Sembcorp Marine. Yap has over 4 years of experience as a Project Engineer, having previously worked at Wood from June 2018 to August 2020, and at M+W Group from April 2016 to May 2018.

As a Project Engineer, Yap has led in manpower / man-hours planning and supported in scheduling. Yap has also organized, participated and minuted in project and interface related correspondence/meetings, prepared Project Monthly / Weekly Progress Reports and Worked Hours Reports, and been the delegated point of contact between clients, contractors and consultant(s) for engineering issues. In addition, Yap has supported in problem-solving on both technical and administrative matters, prepared instructions for Communication and Correspondence, as well as guidelines for Document Distribution.

Yap’s past projects include the Altech HPA (High Purity Alumina) Project (June 2016 - Present) and the KMG Chemicals Project (April 2016 – June 2016). For the Altech HPA Project, they were the Engineering Coordinator and led in manpower / man-hours planning and supported in scheduling. Yap was also responsible for preparing Project Monthly / Weekly Progress Reports and Worked Hours Reports, delegating the point of contact between client, contractor and consultant(s), coordinating site Early Works (e.g. Site Surveys), and participating in project and interface related correspondence/meetings. As for the KMG Chemicals Project, they were solely responsible for delegating the point of contact between client and contractor, as well as supporting in the development of engineering layout drawings for Feasibility Study. Yap was also involved in project and interface related correspondence/meetings and progress reporting.

Yap Chee Keong has a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a certification from the same school in Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honors).
