James Hutchby

Senior Scientist, Emeritus at Semiconductor Research

James Hutchby has a diverse work experience in the field of semiconductor research and aerospace physics. James started their career in 1970 as an Aerospace Physicist at NASA - Langley Research Center and worked there until 1979. In 1980, they joined RTI International as the Director of the Center for Semiconductor Research, a role they held until 1998. James then moved to the Semiconductor Research Corporation and served as the Director of Nanostructure and Interconnect Sciences until 1999. From 1999 to 2007, they worked at SRC as the Director of Device Sciences. Later, they transitioned to the role of a Senior Research Scientist and eventually became a Senior Scientist, Emeritus.

James Hutchby completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Auburn University from 1958 to 1964. James then pursued a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Physics at North Carolina State University from 1964 to 1966. Following that, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering with a major in Solid State and a minor in Physics at North Carolina State University from 1966 to 1969. Finally, they pursued a Post Doctoral degree in Solid State Physics, specifically focusing on the properties of CdS, at North Carolina State University from 1969 to 1970.
