Dan Purcell has a diverse work experience in the field of digital forensics. Dan has worked as a Treasurer, Member, and Area Representative for the Florida FBI National Academy Associates Inc since 2013. Prior to that, they served as Chief at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office starting from 1995. Dan has also been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Central Florida since 2010, teaching courses in digital forensics. Additionally, they have held the role of Lifetime Member and Former Chairman of the Board at the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists since 2000. From 2002 to 2018, they worked at Guidance Software as a Lead Trainer, conducting training courses in digital forensics.
Dan Purcell has pursued a diverse education history in the field of law enforcement and criminal justice. In 2004, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Columbia College. In 2006, they continued their studies at the University of Central Florida, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Digital Forensics. During the same period, they also completed a Graduate Certificate program in Computer Forensics from the same institution. In 2013, Dan attended the FBI National Academy's 254th Session at the University of Virginia, where they received a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education, specializing in Law Enforcement Executive Training. The following year, they participated in the Leadership Seminole #24 program, focusing on leadership development. In 2015, they attended the FBI Florida Executive Development Seminar (FEDS, LEEDA), earning a Certificate of Completion in Law Enforcement Executive Leadership. Most recently, in 2019, they completed the Chief Executive Seminar in Executive Leadership offered by the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute.
