Evgeny Kovalev

Evgeny Kovalev has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and machine learning. Evgeny is currently working as a Data Scientist at Semrush since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at SberCloud as a Machine Learning Developer from August 2020 to April 2022. In this role, they engineered a product using Python on SQLAlchemy engine, organized data science competitions, and solved various business cases.

Before joining SberCloud, they worked as a Seminar Tutor and Visiting Lecturer at State University — Higher School of Economics from September 2018 to April 2021. Evgeny conducted online courses on Coursera and taught machine learning courses at the Faculty of Computer Science and Faculty of Mathematics.

Evgeny gained research experience as a Machine Learning Researcher at Huawei Technologies from May 2019 to August 2020. In this role, they developed methods for compressing and accelerating deep convolutional neural networks and conducted experiments on different datasets.

Earlier in their career, they worked as a Junior Data Scientist at MrBot.im from October 2018 to May 2019, where they configured a framework for solving instance segmentation tasks and implemented projects from scratch using Mask R-CNN model.

Evgeny also has teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant at the National Research University — Higher School of Economics from September 2015 to June 2018.

Evgeny Kovalev obtained a Master's degree in Data Science from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from State University — Higher School of Economics from 2014 to 2018. In addition to their academic degrees, Evgeny also obtained various certifications such as "Convolutional Neural Networks," "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization," "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," "SQL Fundamentals," and "Introduction to Deep Learning (with honors)" from institutions like Coursera and SoloLearn.
