Philana van Summeren

Philana van Summeren has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology. Philana is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at SenseUP Biotechnology since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter at SenseUP Biotechnology from July 2017 to October 2022. Before joining SenseUP Biotechnology, Philana worked at GO-Bio Projekt Sense Up where they held the position of Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin from December 2014 to June 2017. Their role involved working on various metabolic engineering and natural evolution projects. Philana also has prior experience as a PhD Student at Forschungszentrum Jülich from October 2011 to January 2015, focusing on the metabolic engineering of C. glutamicum and E. coli for the production of plant secondary metabolites. Philana's early professional experience includes working as a technical marketing assistant at Rahu Catalytics Limited from December 2007 to December 2009.

From 2001 to 2006, Philana van Summeren attended the University of Groningen where they pursued a Masters degree in Chemistry. Following this, they enrolled at Wageningen University & Research in 2010 and completed their MSc in Biotechnology in 2011.
