David Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. David started their career at Plessey Semiconductors as an Equipment Maintenance technician and worked there from 1991 to 1997. David then joined Siemens as an Equipment technician and was part of a team that achieved a world record for the fastest fab start-up. David worked at Siemens from 1997 to 2000. After that, they worked as a Field Service Engineer at Ultratech from 1999 to 2002 and then at Bystronic Inc. from 2002 to 2003. David joined Ultratech again as a Field Service Engineer and worked there from 2003 to 2008. David then joined EM Microelectronic as an Equipment maintenance engineer (Photolithography) from 2008 to 2010 and later became the Maintenance section head from 2010 to 2013. David then moved on to ABB and worked as an Equipment Engineer from 2013 to 2018. Currently, they are working at Sensirion as a Senior Equipment Engineer and is responsible for customer complaint analysis and support in development projects, focusing on quality management and problem-solving.

David Thompson attended Tameside College of Technology from 1990 to 1992, where they pursued a field of study in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
