Mark Ruys has worked in the software industry since 1996. Mark began their career as a Software Developer & Entrepreneur at Paracas Software. In 1998, they moved to Logica as a Software Designer. In 2000, they became a Lead Software Engineer at Peercode BV. In 2008, they took on the role of Software Engineer at Swinxs BV, where they worked on the world's first outdoor gaming console. In 2015, they became the Chief Software Architect at Sensoterra.

Mark Ruys obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from Radboud University in 1999.
