Sloan Research and Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards; 1998 Paul Dawson Biotechnology Award (AACP); Fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering Professor of Chemistry, Stony Brook University (1977-1996); Director, Center for Biotechnology (Stony Brook, 1992-1996); Director, Center for Cell Signaling (2002-2007); Director, Center for Therapeutic Biomaterials (2004-present). Co-founder and former CSO, Eschelon Biosciences, Inc. (Salt Lake City, UT); Co-founder and former CSO, Sentrx Surgical, Inc.; Senior Scientific Advisor, Carbylan BioSurgery, Inc. (Palo Alto, CA); Co-founder and former CSO, Glycosan Biosystems, Inc. (Salt Lake City, UT). He has also published over 556 papers, patents, and book chapters; additionally, he has trained over 69 graduate students and 53 postdocs over the course of 30+ years.
