Xiang (Sean) Li has a wealth of work experience in the field of bioinformatics. In 2017, they became the CTO and Co-Founder of Seqster. From 2014 to 2017, they held various roles at Pathway Genomics Corporation, including Vice President of Clinical Bioinformatics, Sr. Director of Clinical Bioinformatics, and Director of Clinical Bioinformatics. From 2010 to 2014, they were the Director of Bioinformatics Development at Ambry Genetics, where they built and managed a team of bioinformatics scientists, statisticians, and software developers, provided bioinformatics support to both the Clinical Diagnostic branch and Genomic Service branch, and built a HIPAA-compliant CAP-accredited Bioinformatics infrastructure. From 2007 to 2010, they were a Postdoc Fellow in the Bioengineering Department at the University of California at San Diego.
Xiang (Sean) Li's education history includes completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Nankai University from 1992 to 1996, followed by a Master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at Peking Union Medical College from 1996 to 1999. Xiang (Sean) then attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1999 to 2000 before completing a Ph.D in Bioinformatics at the University of Illinois Chicago from 2000 to 2006.
