Yaqub J. has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Yaqub began their career as an Audit Trainee/Senior Manager at Kreston M N S & Co., Chartered Accountants, where they gained valuable auditing and accounting skills. Yaqub then worked as a Technical Research Assistant at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. Yaqub then moved on to Trade World Ltd in Botswana, where they served as a Financial Accountant, handling financial statements, tax planning, and budgeting. Following this, they joined Ernst & Young as an Assistant Manager, executing audit assignments and providing valuable services to clients. Yaqub later took on the role of Finance Manager at A.Abunayyan Group Subsidiary, where they provided strategic financial leadership, refined financial infrastructure, and ensured regulatory compliance. Yaqub temporarily worked as a Financial Advisor for their own business before joining the Industrial Development Board as the Director of Finance, overseeing financial reporting, account records, and investing funds. Currently, Yaqub J. serves as the Head of Finance at Serendib Flour Mills (Pvt) Ltd, where they lead the finance department and is responsible for financial reporting, treasury management, and accounting controls.
Yaqub J. completed the CPA Australia Program in 2014, earning a CPA (Australia) degree with a focus on Accounting and Business/Management. In 2000, Yaqub J. attended the Institute of Certified Management of Accountants in Sri Lanka, but it is not specified if a degree was obtained.
