John Cropsey is the Director of Clinical Training and Global Ophthalmology at RIIO, where they focus on training future ophthalmologists across Africa. Previously, they served as the Chief Ophthalmologist at Kibuye Hope Hospital and Hope Africa University from 2013 to 2021. Cropsey completed their residency at Wills Eye Hospital from 2006 to 2009 and held a Global Ophthalmology Fellowship at Tenwek Hospital from 2009 to 2011. They earned their Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2005, following a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the same institution. Cropsey is also involved in the Eye Love Africa project, dedicated to eradicating needless blindness in Africa.
