Fernando José Karl

Fernando José Karl has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of information security. Fernando started their career as a Security Analyst at Kepler Weber in 2002 and later worked as an Information Security Analyst at Sicredi in 2005. From 2006 to 2011, they served as an IT Security Compliance Manager at British American Tobacco. Continuing their career, they joined Axur Information Security as the Chief Technical Officer in 2012, where they were responsible for handling incidents for enterprise companies and played a pivotal role in creating the Security Operations Center. In 2012, they also became an Associate Partner at Sikur, a secure information exchange platform, where they performed an exit in 2014. Additionally, they worked as a Lecturer at Unisinos from 2007 to 2013 and Senac-RS in 2014. Alongside this, they founded and served as the CEO of turbup, a secure hosting service for WordPress sites, from 2014 to 2017. Fernando'smost recent position is the Director of Security Operations at Service IT, which they have held since 2018. Throughout their career, Fernando José Karl has achieved several accomplishments, including being a FIRST conference speaker, attaining ISO 27001:2013 certification, and obtaining FIRST membership for their company.

Fernando José Karl has a diverse education history. Fernando completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Business Administration and Management from Unisinos in 2012. Prior to that, they obtained an MBA in IT Strategic Management from FGV - Fundação Getulio Vargas in 2007. Fernando also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, which they earned between 1997 and 2003. In addition to their academic degrees, Fernando has obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include CNSS Certified Network Security Specialist from ICSI (International CyberSecurity Institute) in the UK in 2020, Certificado em Competências Profissionais, Emocionais e Tecnológicas para Tempos de Mudança from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul in 2020, Policy Compliance and Vulnerability Management certifications from Qualys in 2019, CISM - Certified Information Security Manager from ISACA in 2010, AMBCI from Business Continuity Institute (BCI) in 2010, and CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional from (ISC)² in 2006.
