Gus Anderson

Vice President Strategic Business Development at SES Space & Defense

Gus Anderson has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Gus is currently serving as the Vice President of Strategic Business Development at SES Space & Defense since December 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Leonardo DRS for 12 years, holding positions such as Director of Business Development, Director of International Programs, and Program Manager. Gus also gained experience in business development at Apptis in 2008 and served as a Field Office Commander at the Defense Information Systems Agency from 2005 to 2008. Before that, they held the role of Regional Signal Group Commander at NATO Communications Information Services Agency from 2002 to 2005. Gus started their career in 1992 as an Executive and Operations Officer at the 58th Signal Battalion and subsequently held positions at Army ROTC as a Professor and at the Office of the Secretary of Defense as a Speechwriter. Gus served as a Commander at the 509th Signal Battalion from 1998 to 2000, where they successfully established communication networks between US and Eastern European forces and directed telecommunications planning for international peacekeeping and stability operations.

Gus Anderson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Notre Dame, which they obtained from 1975 to 1979. From 1986 to 1988, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy at the University of Connecticut. In 1991 to 1992, Gus attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, focusing on Military and Strategic Leadership. Gus also completed the Signal Officer Advanced Course in Telecommunications Management in both 1984 and 1979.

In terms of additional certifications, Gus obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in September 2010.
