John Vasily has a wealth of experience spanning over three decades in different organizations. John began their career as a COBOL programmer in 1984 at the Massachusetts Board of Regents of Higher Education, where they also served as a HEGIS and IPEDS coordinator and published reports in the ERIC citation system. After working at Babson College as a Senior Programmer from 1992 to 1996, they became Application Development Manager at the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services. In 2000, they were appointed Chief Information Officer at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, where they supported 30 field offices and 5 state school facilities, among other responsibilities.
From 2005 to 2012, John Vasily served as Team Leader, Applications Development, at Boston Children's Hospital, where they led clinical and research programming development and application support for applications developed by their group for the Cardiovascular Program. At the Jewish Memorial Hospital, they served briefly as IT Manager before they took up the position of Director of Information Technology at the Massachusetts School Building Authority from 2012 to 2015, where they maintained a Rackspace hosted asp. net solution tied to SQL Server and refreshed all the hardware and software.
Between 2015 and 2023, John Vasily worked at Public Partnerships | PPL. Here, they held various roles such as Manager of Development and Operations (DevOps) and Senior Manager Release Engineering. In these roles, they deployed pipeline code, SQL, and navision 2009 code, migrated on-premise TFVC and help desk systems to Azure DevOps and Git, and incorporated private AKS clusters and Mongo Atlas into the organization's Azure environments. John also upgraded the Kubernetes cluster on the class of virtual machines used by PPL and maintained a biweekly release and daily patch schedule.
In 2023, John Vasily joined Seurat Technologies as a Senior DevOps Software Engineer.
John Vasily holds a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services from Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School in 1992. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Economics from UMass Boston in 1983. Additionally, John obtained a DevOps Foundations certification from LinkedIn in June 2023.
